Experimental runs of the climate and weather prediction programme called the Regional Spectral Model were performed on a Digital Alpha Workstation for a region having a size of 81x57 grid-points. The run were made at crude and fine resolutions. To make a one- day prediction, 2 hour run and approximately 500 MB of storage were required. Most of this storage was used for filing the ECHAM data which were used as initial data. To complete a run of 3 month prediction, required computing time was approximately 180 hours and storage size of approximately 10.5 GB. From this result, it is recommended that a more powerful hardware such as Cray or SGI with parallel processors is required to speed up the calculation.
