PENGAMATAN OSILASI MADDEN JULIAN DENGAN RADAR ATMOSFER EQUATOR (EAR) DI BUKITTINGGI SUMATERA BARAT Sebuah Studi Pendahuluan
Main Article Content
Abstract
keduanya memiliki osilasi 40-50 hari.
Intraseasonal variations (ISV), which is one of the most dominant variations in the tropics, have been studied using the Equatorial Atmosphere Radar (EAR) in West Sumatera, Indonesia. From black body temperature (TBB) obtained from GMS IR data averaged over 5S-5N during April-June 2002, eastward propagation super cloud cluster having 40-50 day oscillation (as proposed by Madden and Julian, 1971) clearly appeared on that period. From continuous observations of the EAR installed in Bukittinggi West Sumatera, we identified a good agreement between TBB and zonal winds that have also 40-50 day oscillation. Namely, when enhanced convection exists in the west side of the EAR site, easterly or weak westerly winds are observed with the EAR. Conversely, when enhanced convection exists in the east side of EAR site, westerly winds are observed.
