PENGARUH ENSO TERHADAP POLA ANGIN DAN CURAH HUJAN DI DAS LARONA, SULAWESI SELATAN

Abstract
Ketersediaan air di danau-danau yang berada di DAS Larona sangat penting karena
air yang mengalir keluar dari danau digunakan untuk menggerakkan turbin pembangkit
listrik. Kajian pola cuaca dan iklim di wilayah ini sangat dibutuhkan untuk mengetahui
waktu yang tepat dalam melakukan tindakan antisipasi kekurangan air, termasuk mengadakan kegiatan teknologi modifikasi cuaca untuk menambah curah hujan. Hasil
analisis dengan data angin permukaan NCEP menunjukkan bahwa pola pergerakan
angin di wilayah ini dipengaruhi oleh kondisi ENSO. Pada saat El Nino Angin Timuran
bertambah kuat, dan angin dari selatan melemah. Curah hujan pada saat El Nino dapat
berkurang sampai 22% dari normalnya, namun pada saat La Nina dapat bertambah
sebesar 50%.
Water availability in Larona watershed is very important as it is used to drive turbines
of Hydro electric power. Study of weather and climate patterns is needed to anticipated
water shortages, as well as to conduct the weather modification technology for rain
enhancement. NCEP surface wind data analysis indicate that the pattern of wind
movement in the region is affected by ENSO. During El Nino, easterly wind is getting
stronger, and the southerly wind is weaker. during El Nino rainfall reduced to 22% of
normal, but during La Nina it increased by 50%.
